Godfirst Cheltenham gathers on Sunday mornings as those first disciples did to passionately honour the risen Jesus! Our meetings start at 10:30am (10:15 for drinks) and we aim to finish between 12:15 and 12:30. We meet at The Parabola Arts Centre, Parabola Road, Cheltenham, GL50 3AA*. Look out for our sail banners and friendly orange jacketed car park team. We access the building by the glass entrance on Parabola Road.

What to expect

Godfirst Sundays Welcome

When you come to a meeting at Godfirst Cheltenham, we really want you to feel welcomed, included and at ease. Our meeting starts with hot drinks and cookies in the foyer. At 10:30 am we move into the theatre. Please feel free to sit where you like but there will be someone from our welcome team to help you to find a seat if you need assistance.

Godfirst Sundays

Sung worship

Our meetings begin with all ages together for sung worship. We use contemporary songs with occasional classic hymns (words to the songs are projected on the large theatre screen). Please feel free to join in or just observe in whatever way makes you most comfortable.

Godfirst Sundays

News break

At the end of the worship we have a short time of notices. During the notices we pass around our offering, guests are not expected to give money (although you are welcome to) and no one will mind if you don’t.

Godfirst Sundays

Children and Youth

Our children are with us during our sung worship. We have a buggie area at the back that you are welcome to use. We are relaxed about baby noise so we hope you won’t feel uncomfortable if your baby is unsettled.

Our G1 kids and youth work caters for ages 6 months to the end of secondary school, with a creche area where you can listen to the meeting. G1 kids is a safe and stimulating environment for all our children, with a mix of worship, games, crafts, and discussion around a key theme or Bible story. We aim to create moments that draw our children into their own trust in Jesus.

Young people of secondary school age have their G1 youth group, which meets every other week. Alternate Sundays they remain in the main meeting for the talk.

We operate a child protection and vulnerable adults policy and all team leaders are trained and DBS checked.

Godfirst Sundays

Bible teaching, worship and prayer

We believe relevant and accessible preaching from the Bible, lasting 35 - 40 minutes, an important element of our community life. Each talk ends with our focus on Jesus as we break bread together, making space for worship and for people to receive prayer for things that have been stirred by the bible teaching.

We are not yet what we will become and so we encourage those who join us to see with the eyes of faith how they might play their part in the Godfirst community that we believe God is crafting.

After the meeting

Eating together

After the meeting people move into the foyer for drinks and cookies. If you are a visitor expect people to chat to you and invite you to join with other members of Godfirst for lunch, at a home or in the nearby eateries of the Montpellier district. Eating together is a great way to build community; we believe it’s not really church if we are not really friends.

*Godfirst - On the Road

Our conviction is that Godfirst is not a church meeting to attend but a Gospel community to connect and contribute to. Due to festivals and school use, on a number of Sundays a year we do not meet at the Parabola Arts Centre, but arrange other activities. Please check our What's On page for details, especially if you are a first time visitor - we wouldn't want to miss you!
